Chris and I have been fostering Clover for Charlies Angels Animal Rescue since March 25th!
Her story….Clover was left abandoned by her previous owners when they moved out of their house in December of 2010. Animal Control got a call from neighbors about the abandoned dogs on March 1st! For almost two months Clover and her sisters were left there, alone. Clover sat at the Transylvania County Animal Shelter for 25 days. I came several times to take photos of the dogs there to promote them to potential adopters- but no one had come to save shy Clover. I couldnt let it go on any longer and she came home with me.
But its been a long road to recovery- and we are still on it. For the first 48 hours Clover wouldnt use the bathroom. She was scared out of her mind. I would drag her out of her crate (her nest, as we call it today) and lay with her for hours till she was so mentally exhausted she would let out a huge sigh and finally fall asleep.
Today Clover is coming around! Her days consist of playing non stop with our dog Oliver and napping. My days consist of chasing after her when she has stolen yet another pair of socks to hide in “her nest”. Clover is a pack rat who loves anything and everything soft that smells like mom and dad- she will take it back to her crate and sleep with it. Clover is still VERY shy of new people but we are working on it. She had lost ALL TRUST for humans. It breaks my heart that people can be that cruel.
