This is more of a personal post that is near and dear to my heart.

Many of you may remember my best friend, Cortney. Her maternity photos and “belly grows” video were plastered all over my blog and facebook last Fall. Cortney and her husband, Michael, gave birth to their first son in October of 2011 (the day before my birthday!- the best birthday present ever). My fiance, Chris, and I actually met at Cortney & Michael’s wedding!

In January of this year Michael had a brain aneurysm. He was rushed to Mission, in a coma for two weeks, went through brain surgery and rehab. Cortney was by his side EVERY minute of everyday. Just four weeks ago Michael came home from the hospital/rehab and is still adjusting to life at home.  Michael is still gaining control of his brain and physical movements.  As of right now he suffers from short-term memory loss- but is getting better day by day.  Cortney was a stay-at-home mom while Michael ran his own carpentry/construction business (a one-man company).   Just writing about this make me cry- for so many reasons. One because of how strong Cortney is. I dont know how she does it but she is the strongest person I know. As of right now they do not have an in-home nurse. Cortney (with the help of her mother) take on all the care of Michael (he does have therapists that come to the house a couple of times a week). All while taking care of their son, Noah, who is now 6-months old!

Next Saturday, April 28th, we are hosting a family fun night with all proceeds to benefit the Michael Jacques Fund. A fund we have set up to help Cortney and Michael cover the medical expenses and bills that just keep racking up! There is NO fee to come to this event.
